Hunter Thompson
Hi I’m Hunter!
I’m a professional musician with over 10 years of teaching experience who performs full-time in Austin, Texas. I began performing as a teenager in Seattle, Washington. There, I played iconic venues such as The Crocodile, El Corazon, and the Hard-Rock Cafe. Wanting to take my understanding of music further, I pursued formal education in music at Washington State University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Music.
Shortly after graduating from WSU I moved to Austin, Texas where my career as a professional musician began. Since moving to Austin I have met and worked with incredible musicians such as Ian Crawford (Panic at the Disco), Bart Crow, and many other talented local and touring acts. My work consists of teaching, recording session work, freelance drumming, and drumming for my band PES and various other projects. I have played in front of thousands of people, toured the country playing music, and have played at most of the major venues in Austin.
My goal as a teacher is not necessarily to require musical mastery by means of technical or theoretical development, but rather to aid my students in mastering the joy of learning! I would describe my teaching style as enthusiastic, flexible, attentive, and logical. What I’ve learned from my ventures as a professional, a teacher, and as a student myself, allows me to give my students a well-rounded and practical learning experience.
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio, and I look forward to our first lesson!
